The holy place where the sanctum sanctorum which houses the Idol of Lord Balaji is situated on the seventh hill i.e. Venkatadri.
Many people around the world visit Thirumala every day to see the God. This place is also called has Bulokha Vaikuntam.

People can reach Thirupathi via Road, Train and Air. It’s 120KM from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and 250KM from Bangalore, Karnataka. APSRTC runs Buses regularly from Thirupathi to Thirumala which also provides facilities for advanced bookings for return tickets which can save time in returning to Thirupathi. These tickets are valid for 3 days from purchase. You are recommended to use APSRTC Buses for a safe journey to Thirumala which is driven by well trained and experienced drivers. If you plan to use your vehicles one should be very careful on the Ghat roads.

I personally prefer taking the Footpaths to Thirumala. For those who like to climb the Hills can use the footpaths which is well built Stone Path. This steps starts from Alipiri which is at the foot of Thirumala. APSRTC runs free buses from railway station and bus station to Alipiri for every 30min. Pilgrims can deposit their luggage at the TTD transport office and can collect their receipts which can be used to redeem their luggage on reaching the Top.

The Foot steps at start are a bit difficult to climb until Galigopuram. The rest of the path is very easy to walk. Along the foot steps enjoy the natural beauty which is covered with dense forest. There are small mandapams along the footpaths where pilgrims can take rest. Though the journey is physically tiring, it is a spiritually satisfying.

Several facilities are provided to the pilgrims who walk up the hills to Thirumala, by the TTD administration:
• Nice and well maintained footpaths with security guards to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
• Separate Toilet facilities for Men and Women along with nice drinking water.
• Free transport of the Pilgrims luggage from the bottom of the hill to the Top.
